Porcelain Crowns
Often used to improve the strength or appearance of teeth a crown is a type of dental restoration which completely caps or encircles a tooth or dental implant. Crowns are often needed when a large cavity threatens the ongoing health of a tooth. They are typically bonded to the tooth using dental cement. Crowns can be made from many materials, which are usually fabricated using indirect methods. Crowns may be necessary because of broken down old fillings, fractured, chipped or sensitive teeth. They are also used to improve the appearance of natural teeth that are deformed or discolored. Crowns are made of natural looking porcelain and are made to improve your overall smile or to blend in with your own teeth. Sometimes an underlying metal shell is used under the porcelain if additional strength is needed.
